“What’s your biggest challenge with creating content?”
I was asked this question a few weeks ago. My answer:
It’s not coming up with ideas.
Ideation is a strength of mine.Likely because I take in so much content.
Where I struggle is the process of sitting.
Sitting to write.
I have all these ideas, I want to explain them in X and Y ways, but it’s the discipline to find the time to write.
How I’ve overcome this challenge is by using time blocks.
I block 30 minutes every morning to write (7-7:30). Nothing stops me- unless someone I love is dying-from sitting.
Instead of hoping I find time after dinner, I do it first thing in the morning.
If you struggle with sitting, like me, use time blocks. And make yourself a promise:
👎🏼 If you DON'T sit, you don’t get that glorious bowl of ice cream tonight.
👎🏼 If you DON'T sit, you don’t get to watch the new episode of COPS.
👍🏼 If you DO sit, for a month straight, buy yourself a massage.
👍🏼 If you DO sit for three months straight, buy yourself an iPad (that’s what I recently did).
Sitting consistently to write will not only improve your writing, but it will also improve your thinking, which will enhance your life.
Make a promise to yourself to write X minutes every day, and I promise you won't regret it.
You will only regret not doing it sooner.
