Don't be like high school Jordan.

"Hey Jordan, I got a quick question."

"What's up dad?"

"The mechanic said he noticed a ton of sand stuck under the truck. You know anything about that?" 😶

Flashback:

I grab the wheel. I look to make sure I have everyone's attention.

My foot slams the pedal, and my truck begins kicking up dirt.

Before I know it, I'm at the top of the dune staring down at my friends. I did it.

I got their attention.

And then I would do something else dumb or dangerous to get another group of people's attention.

It was a subconscious cycle that high school Jordan was unaware of.

Why did I do it? I was trying to please anyone and everyone.

This resulted in almost dying a few times.

Many companies are doing the same thing with their marketing.

They are aiming to gain the attention of anyone.

Which results in vanilla marketing or, in worst cases, public embarrassment.

Figure out who's attention you need and where their attention is.

And go there and get it.

Don't make the same mistake as high school Jordan did and optimize for getting anyone's attention.

You'll make a fool out of yourself.
