Treat content as a product.

You just released a new product.

It’s been out for a few weeks, but it isn’t gaining traction.

What do you do?

Cancel the product and begin working on a new product?

Hopefully not.

You would figure out what’s not working and try to position it better for the intended audience. Possibly even launch again.

Why don’t we do the same for our content?

If our content isn’t working right away, we toss it and either start something new or forgo content efforts in total.

Or we keep creating content without trying to improve it.

Treating content as a product is what the best content creators do.

They iterate, test, and launch content. Like you do with a product.

They also continue to improve and update it, as you would do with a product.

Instead of me riffing on this topic, which is new to me, I think this blog post can help you understand why you should treat content as a product.

Let me know your thoughts on treating content as a product.
