I might not get this chance again

My favourite athlete is New Zealand rugby player Beauden Barrett. He started playing for the All Blacks in 2012 and has won the World Rugby Player of the Year award twice.

When asked about how it feels to be selected for the national team, Beauden said that he never says no to an offer of playing for the All Blacks. He explained that he knows there are only a finite number of times it will happen, so he never turns down the opportunity.

This is a real life example of not acting like you’re going to live forever. Knowing what matters. Being intentional about what you want and figuring everything else out after. Grabbing opportunities with both hands without letting them pass.

Beauden knew what he wanted to do from an early age and kept working towards making it happen. We all know what we want from our businesses and lives, but how many opportunities do we turn down? How many times do we wait until the timing is right? How much do we explain something away rather than just going for it?

In many cases, the “yes” starts the chain of events that make the timing right, not the other way around. It starts with putting your name forward, it ends with eternal glory.
