Listening to Eydís Evensen - Live on KEXP at Home

Programming can sometimes be weird. Tonight, I wanted to fix one particular thing within the Superstaff search engine but  didn't quite know how to do it - so I planned 3 - 5 hours for that. Turns out that bug was so small, it only took me 20mins. Now everything is working great! Gotta keep that in mind for situations in the future, where - at first and from the outside - a thing seems like a big mountain to climb.

The menu area of iMessage should get a redesign. It’s in our face every day so many times, still it all looks like 15 years ago: A list with all chats. I guess they innovated a bit with pinned chats. But then limited it to 9. Not 100% sure how it should look like but I frequently come across these issues: 

1. I don’t wanna see certain chats at certain times, so I fully delete them. 

2.  I feel like a full page of chats feels overwhelming so I delete them to have fewer chats on the page.  

3. Why do I have to click on the chat to open a message. Sure, there is a short preview but why not extend that preview to cover 1/3 of the page. So I can see the message right away. 

Again, not sure about the how and haven’t spent much time thinking through it but I strongly feel that there is way more potential in that area of our lives.

It's 12:30 AM and I'm about to start a sweet all nighter. Superstaff profiles will get a bio section, we add 3 job categories and international phone numbers will get auto-formatting. Todays music is going to be the new Calvin Harris album! Lessssgoooo

I truly look up to those people who write great emails. My favourite ones are short, straight to the point, no bs. Just received one and feel super inspired to improve my writing. Pls forward good books on that! :)

Pretty crazy to me how I sometimes stress about things I don’t know anything about, like some new topic at work. And then once I got a good amount of knowledge in that field, it all becomes kinda normal. Thinking about this often, trying to remind myself of that during times.

Whoa I just went for a 11 hour programming session. My brain is toast right now. Exhaustion + progress is such a weird but kinda amazing state to be in.

When is it ok to start exercising again? Covid negative for 9 days now. Not gonna lie, these scary stories of people starting to early and then getting it back messes with my head a little.

My favourite thing about the NFL or NBA is seeing players who were drafted late absolutely crushing it. Obviously Brady but also like Russel Wilson or Jokic. It‘s the best.

I read a book last night about the early days of Twitter. It talked about the time when Tweets were just a status - no pictures, no videos, no likes, no comments.

A page were you go to get a one-liner of what your friends are up to. Love the simplicity and the imagination-work that your brain has to do, e.g. imagine you read someones status Currently in a Pret in London. And then compare that to an Instagram story with a picture or even video. Pictures are cool, I get that (actually taking pictures of stuff used to my job). But it limits imagination and creativity. 

I'm at a point currently where I enjoy the rawness of information. And felt the urge to do something similar at a small scale, here on this blog. 

So from now on, I will use this blog entry as a status log.
