Facebook and Instagram users are currently unable to login and access the social media apps worldwide.

According to the website DownDetector, which tracks outages, Facebook has been experiencing issues since around 10.25pm BST.

On Facebook, an error message has also been reported with users not being able to browse the site.

It reads: "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can."

The social networks status page is also down.
