Their preparation

If someone else didn’t prepare, and now they’re rushing around trying to sort something out, it’s not your problem.

It’s so easy to get an urgent request and fall for it. I definitely have done.

I have moved my plans to help someone else who said it was urgent. Until I realised that it’s their lack of preparedness that brought the drama and it’s not a genuine crisis.

If someone else wants to live their life in a state of last-minute chaos and disorganisation, it’s doesn’t constitute your emergency.

I’ve had emails sent to me with “urgent” in the title, requesting an immediate response, and thought: hang on, if you’d have sent this last week it wouldn’t be urgent now!

Don’t mistake someone else’s lack of preparation for your emergency because you don’t need to live your life on call to anyone else.
