Niamh Martins is an early career researcher and professor of ecology at the University of Galway in Ireland. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Dublin, and went on to earn her master's and PhD in ecology from the University of Edinburgh.

During her PhD studies, Niamh developed a strong interest in the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems, and she focused her research on the effects of rising ocean temperatures on shellfish populations.

After completing her PhD, Niamh accepted a postdoctoral position at the University of Galway, where she continued her research on shellfish environments. She has published numerous papers in academic journals, and has received several grants to support her research.
