Calm Seas (Before the Storm)

It was quite calm last week, but it was the calm before the storm. Beginning tomorrow, our students’ exam theses will roll in. Not all at once, however—again this year, many fell sick, and their individual deadlines are scattered all over the place. It’s so hard to keep track, I hope I won’t forget anyone! (Just kidding.)

Last week, I wrote a New Year’s Progress Report on my Voidpunk projects and published my first AI/LLM/GPT Roundup at just drafts. These roundups will become a recurring feature for a while; a lot is happening right now around AI that I want to keep track of. Then, I uploaded my final Pingyao, China album to Flickr, with five shots from spaces and back-alleys. Beyond that, there are my daily vintage-style squaries at Pixelfed and new entries at my Instagram accounts betweendrafts and voidpunkverse.

For the Sunday Funnies, something special. Maybe you’ve heard about, or even watched, that infamous Christian Super Bowl ad. It inspired Tasha Kaminsky on Twitter to create a long and hilarious thread about the topics a Super Bowl ad for Judaism might address, which completely cracked me up because it’s so true and so funny. Finally, here’s a cat and a doggie for you and a tiny warthog. Enjoy!
