Belated Spring Cleaning

My memory of the past week primarily revolves around cleaning my desk, drawers, devices, and various keyboards in particular, the latter at length reflected upon in four overlong Instagram posts. But I also attended the CGL’s annual Open Lab event Wednesday night—to chat with graduates, students, and friends, check out the graduation projects and selected term projects, drink beer, and enjoy the BBQ. All of which, as usual, was terrific! Also, after several weeks, I resumed running—this time, my knee didn’t act up again, so I ran almost every day. It’s my temperature outside! When it hits 90 and climbing, I have more energy, get more things done, and feel more alive. (Back in the days in AZ, I dealt with up to 115 and even 120 at times and still felt fine. But I made damn sure to always wear my cowboy hat.)

No blog posts last week, as I was cleaning my keyboards. But there are pictures! A new album on Flickr with 30 images from a tour along the DMZ in South Korea; a stack of new vintage-style travel-squaries at Pixelfed; a handful of images—mostly keyboards and gin tonics this time—at my Instagram account betweendrafts; and some pulp and RPG artifacts at my other Instagram account voidpunkverse.

Finally, this week’s game recommendation from last June’s Indie Game Fest: Godsworn by ThunderOak, a “classic mythological real-time strategy game.” As a caveat, I never played RTS games, and I wouldn’t know what to do if my life depended on it. But I chatted with the developers and watched my own students play it; it looks fantastic; and everybody said it’s an incredible achievement for such a small team. (Here’s a pretty convincing review of the pre-alpha version from last May I found on the internet.) As of now, you can only wishlist Godsworn on Steam; but if you have a Steam account, you can also check out an Early Access Version.
